Environmental responsibility
For many years Elis has been careful to preserve resources and limit effects on the environment.

|
Concern for water resources: consumption and disposal
- Water consumption: Elis has reduced its water consumption by 30% over the past ten years through the improvement of washing machines, processes and products.
- Disposal of waste water: all Elis factories are connected to independent or shared waste water treatment installations

|
Air preservation
- No more heavy fuel: all steam production is now carried out with natural gas, thus eliminating sulphur oxide emissions and reducing greenhouse effect gases.
- Innovations: to reduce greenhouse effect gas emissions, Elis has set up specific installations (reactor for neutralisation of aqueous effluents based on CO2 recovery, cascading heat recovery systems and heat exchangers)

Valorisation of waste The waste generated by Elis’s industrial activity is sorted for valorisation
- Recycling of paper and cardboard
- Re-use of plastic in fibre form
- Re-use of linen taken out of circulation for weaving of less noble textiles

“Re-usable” products The products used by Elis to support the services provided are re-used between 20 and 100 times.
- Textile reels for wiping hands
- Sterile linen for operating blocks in place of disposable operating areas
- Water cylinders for supplying the fountains.
